matcha mornings.

I’ve just discovered matcha – the wonder tea. This stuff is like drinking 10 cups of green tea in one little scoop. The health benefits of this metabolism-enhancing, stress-reducing, energy boosting, cholesterol-lowering, calorie burning  wonder tea go through the roof!

Matcha is a specialised form of green tea that originates from Japan. It is potent in taste, and vibrant green in colour because it has been less processed than other forms of green tea. It was drunk by Buddhist monks to remain alert and calm during long periods of meditation.

Its one of the single highest antioxidants you can take. 6.2 times that of goji berries, 7 times that of cacao, 17 times that of wild blueberries and 60.5 times that of spinach!

I’ve decided to involve matcha in my daily smoothie ritual, making the usual spinach/wheatgrass number I have for breakfast a new level of green and great!
If your like me and you like green tea then give this one a shot. If you like your breaky to be sweet/creamy or fruity this may not be the blend for you, but hey with stats like those above its worth kicking your fruit loops to the curb and downing one of these beauties for an ultimate start to the day!

Matcha Green Smoothie

1x handful spinach
1x handful kale
small bunch of mint leaves
1/2 a lime squeezed
1/2 banana
1/2 pear
300ml coconut water
1 scoop matcha powder
small pinch of himalayan rock salt
Sweeten with maple syrup if you desire.
4-6 ice cubes

And blend!
